~ STATEMENT OF FAITH ~

What We Believe

This is the doctrinal statement of Seaside First Baptist Church. These are the basic truths that we believe as they are explained in Scripture. We will never compromise or debate these issues.

The Bible

We believe in the expository preaching of the Word of God. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak.

(1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

The Trinity

We believe in one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally divine, existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; we believe that these three are equal in power and glory, they have precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections, and they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

God the Father

We believe in God the Father: an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (1 Chronicles 29:11; Isaiah 6:3; Romans 11:33; Ephesians 2:4-6; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. We believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, His personal, visible, imminent, premillennial return from heaven, and His kingdom reign upon the earth. (Zechariah 14:4-11; John 1:1-2; Luke 1:34-35; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Peter 2:21-24; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-6)

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit’s ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to implement Christ’s work of redeeming the lost, and to empower the believer for godly living and service. The Holy Spirit, in the present age indwells all believers, baptizes them into the body of Christ and seals them unto the day of redemption. (John 14:26; 16:8-11; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14)

Man

We believe God originally created people, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. Through Adam’s sin, all people are sinners by nature and choice and are spiritually dead. Those who repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:18; Romans 3:22-23; 5:12-21; Ephesians 5:1-3, 12)

Salvation

We believe in salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, was purchased by Jesus Christ on the cross, and is received by faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual. Salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern. All true believers once saved shall be kept saved forever. (John 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38-39; 1 Corinthians 1:4-8; Ephesians 2:5, 8-10; Titus 2:11-14)

The Church

We believe that the Church is a spiritual body made up of all born-again persons in this age irrespective of their affiliation with Christian organizations. This body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have been baptized by immersion upon a credible confession of faith and have associated themselves for worship, teaching, prayer, fellowship, evangelism, equipping, and service. The ordinances of the local church are believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23)

The Last Things

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost, and the eternal and conscious existence of all people either in heaven or hell. (Mark 9:42-49; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:15; 22:3-5, 11)

Our Vision For The Future

This page will describe to you where we believe God is leading us and how we think God wants us to get there.

Our Covenant To One Another

When you are part of a church family, you make certain promises to the rest of the church family.

These are the promises that we make to one another at Seaside First Baptist Church.

Why Should I and how do I become a Member?

Following the command to trust Christ as savior, we are commanded to be baptized as an outward expression of our faith. And following that, we are instructed to become involved with and committed to a local congregation. If you are looking for information regarding baptism or membership, please let Pastor TJ know.

Our Associations

We believe that there are some things that we, as a local church, can do better in cooperation with other local churches rather than trying to accomplish them on our own. Seaside First Baptist Church is currently associated with Next Generation Church of Northern California (Conservative Baptist Association of America).
